AIR DISTRICT: our next project in Riyadh
AIR DISTRICT is a project in development by Ajlaa Events: a luxury entertainment destination in the heart of Riyadh, built from the wings of the past. The images here are concept renders.
The district covers 6,000 square metres and is built entirely from recycled shipping containers and aircraft alloy. Visitors enter through two repurposed aircraft tail fins, more than 10 metres high, that form a "V" archway over the gate.
Inside, a 300-metre boulevard of upcycled art leads to Prince Mashhour Arena, a stage for 3,000 people. Along the way, salvaged aircraft wings become canopies that shade the VIP lounges and the food and drink areas, and an aircraft fuselage becomes a lit centrepiece.
The lighting borrows from airport runways. Lights at the entrance show how busy the district is, from green for quiet to red for busy, and LED strips set into the paving guide visitors along the boulevard at night.
